The most famous Collie was the television star, Lassie. The Ken-L-Ration Hero Dog Award has been presented to Collies on five occasions. Collies have been known to travel as much as 2000 miles after getting lost to be reunited with their people. Pal was the name of the first Collie to play the part of Lassie.
