Rescue Me ID: 16-09-21-00295Berty (male)

Collie Mix    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Needs Vaccinations

I know this sounds very cruel, & I won't be liked for saying this, but I have 2 dogs, one is my ex-wife's 'Dougal', I love him lots and we have a very close bond. If the ex does not want to take him back to the U.K, I will keep him. This means, that I will have to let Berty go, as places for rent that accept dogs, only accept 1 dog. I would rather have Berty go to a new home for his remaining years & be loved, than to be 'put to sleep'. I have now been given 4weeks notice to evict, So I would hope that Berty has found a new home before the end of October. I do hope someone will take him(ASAP)and give him a good home. It would break my ... (Read More)heart, if I had to put him to 'sleep', just because of his age. Berty is 13/14yrs old. He loves being out side sunbathing in the summer, even in the winter he will lay in the porch, mainly an outdoors type of dog. But he also likes his creature comforts. He is a independent dog. He is healthy & has a very good appetite & still has lots of energy. He does like to chase cars and tractors, but as he has got older, he is doing this less often. When he's out and finds a rabbit hole, he will make it bigger then wait there for hours, he does get his reward some times. He has 4/5 sites around the house that he visits, just to see if there has been any activity. As he has got older, he has been more affectionate and every now and then I'll get a kiss from him. He has curtain quirks and signals for things he wants. Overall he is a gentle soul, and would rather be catching rabbits & being out side. I do not get many visitor's so I have no idea if he is good around children, but he is fine with men & women. I had a cat, he was fine with her. He also likes being in cars, but would need a dog guard. My sincere thanks in advance. Eliot (Less)
