Collie Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Personality: High Energy, Very Dominant
Health: Vaccinations Current

Playful, year and a half old Rottie/Collie Mix. Very protective of his family and not so keen on other humans. Has not been socialized much with people other than family. Is a very loving dog once he feels comfortable around you. Loves to play fetch and run around with other dogs. Does come from a home that has another dog. Needs someone who can work with him. Great cuddler, thinks he is a lap dog. Gives great hugs! Very Smart but very much still a puppy so he tends not to listen when he wants to do things his way.

Collie Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Beauty was born 10-30-14. Her mom was a smooth coated collie and her dad was a corgi. She took more after her mom size wise but she has the stubby tail of the corgi. I am guessing she will be around 35 to 40 pound range at maturity. She is a sweet girl who found her self in a high kill shelter with her 2 siblings. She is extremely sweet and seems to have a strong herding/heeling instinct without it even being provoked. She is great with other dogs and she likes cats. She would make an excellent training prospect. She is very attentive and smart. She will go to her new home current on shots, deworming, and flea prevention. She is ... (Read More)microchipped. She will go with 1 free month of pet health insurance. We do require a pre screen application to apply. You can get that on the main web site at . (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-02-09-00049Coy (male)

Collie Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Coy came to KRR when he was discovered living with his collar embedded into his skin. A cruelty investigation was opened and we found that he was adopted as a puppy from the city shelter and his so-called 'owners' never bothered to get him a new collar as he grew. After surgery to remove his collar he was understandably timid around people. However, he is coming out of his shell and he is very sweet and is learning to trust us. He is about 40 lbs and he LOVES to play with his foster sibling, does very well on walks, and seems to really like kids. Despite all he's been though in his life, he is very playful and will make a wonderful family ... (Read More)dog when he knows he's finally safe and loved. He is about a year old, is neutered, heartworm negative, has all his shots & a microchip. This boy deserves only the best from this point forward - are you that family? If interested in adopting Coy please visit KRRTX.ORG and fill out an application. KRR is a TX based rescue that works with transports to bring adoptable dogs out of high kill TX to the NE area. The adoption fee of $355 covers the cost of transportation and health certificate. Thank you for considering adding Coy to your home! (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-01-22-00323Chuck- FOSTER NEEDED! (male)

Collie Mix    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Heartworm Positive

Please share in hopes we can find this dog a foster home ASAP! He needs to be able to lay on a soft bed and not in a kennel! LONGER TERM FOSTER STILL NEEDED! Chuck is an 8-10 year old golden retriever/collie mix who came to us from Pittsylvania County and tested heart worm positive. We have now discovered that he will need FHO (hip surgery) as well. Our vet recommends that we first treat the heart worm as planned which will be in Feb. then plan for the surgery in early spring. Chuck needs a foster home without a lot of steps/things for him to jump off of. And we will send him a nice dog bed to rest his hips on! Chuck is a very nice boy. We ... (Read More)have seen a bit of testiness with other large male dogs when he first arrived but may be fine in a home. Can anyone foster him? He is currently in boarding and we would like to get him out ASAP! Apply to foster and help us save a life! (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-01-17-00366Dawson (male)

Collie Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Heartworm Positive

Dawson was found as a stray in rural SC and now is in a high-kill shelter. The shelter is extremely overcrowded, so DDB brought him to the DC area to find a home. This is such a darling, happy, quiet boy. He is about 4-6 years old and weighs 63 lbs. We think that he is a Leonberger mix, but the website does not have that breed listed. Dawson does well with cats and dogs. It was obvious that his previous owners neglected him. When he arrived at the shelter, he had wounds on his head and foot that were infected. They have since healed. But Dawson will have to receive treatment for heartworms since he was not kept on a regular dose of ... (Read More)monthly preventatives. Since he has been living outdoors, Dawson will probably need a refresher in house manners, leash walking, and basic obedience. This sweet guy needs to find a special person or family to give him the new life he deserves. Can you please give this lovable teddy bear the forever home he needs? He will repay you by snuggling next to you, kissing away your tears, and loving you wholeheartedly. Please apply to adopt Dawson today. (Less)
