Animal ID: 7813Lassie Desi Dog (female)

Collie Mix    Age: Young Adult

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Looking for a couch potato? Lassie is the dog for you! She is a low-energy dog who loves to nap and hang out with her people. And she has come a long way to find a place to nap: Lassie is a 'Desi Dog', a local term for a street dog in India. She was rescued by Kannan Animal Welfare staff In India after suffering a broken leg from being hit by a car. She stayed at KAW until her leg healed, and now she has come to the U.S. in search of a forever home. Lassie is approximately 2-1/2 years old and 44 lbs. Her breed is listed as Indian Pariah Dog and she resembles a Collie mix. She is very sweet and friendly and loves people. She's good with kids ... (Read More)and cats.. She needs slow introductions to new dogs but has become best friends with her foster's dog. She does not have accidents in the house. She is excellent on the leash and walks slowly. She would do well with a family that is looking for a cuddly dog that does not need a lot of exercise. She's probably best with a family that won't leave her alone all day. She is spayed and up to date on vaccinations and monthly preventatives. Apply to adopt her now! Operation Paws for Homes is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization devoted to the rescue, rehabilitation and placement of dogs from high kill shelters in the south. Rescue Me ID: 18-02-04-00102HOLLY (female)

Collie Mix    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Low Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Arthritis

Holly is a sweet old girl who was found wandering around in the cold by herself. When she came in she was quite underweight but has eaten well and is now a good weight. She seems to have been house trained at some point and although she cannot manage that in the shelter it should be easy to retrain her. She has a torn ACL in one back leg and the other is questionable, but she walks well and runs around some in the dog park. She loves to go out for walks and is starting to feel more hopeful. When she came in she looked as if she did not expect anything good to ever happen for her but now we see some hope in her eyes that the right person ... (Read More)will come along and give her love and a forever home. Holly would do well as a companion for someone with a quiet lifestyle who would like to go walking with her two or three times each day. And she loves snuggling up in a comfortable dog bed. (Less)

Collie Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Hello! My name is Trooper! I am about 5 years old and I'm a really cute little guy who weighs about 35-40 pounds! I spend most of my life chained up and I didn't get to learn about a lot of the things that a normal dog does. I can not live with cats and other dogs. I love to sit and shake your hand and get my belly rubbed! I love toys and I love stuffed toys so much that you won't get on away from me! For that reason, I should have an adult-only home who has some experience with dogs. I am active! I guess I'm trying to make up for all I missed when I was chained to a tree! I really want a home that will take me waking everyday! I would love ... (Read More)to hook up with some adventurous souls who love to hike and explore the world! $175.00 adoption fee ($200 for puppies under 6 months old) helps us take care of all the dogs we rescue.
