|Rescue Me ID: 15-05-16-00387Simba (male)|
Simba is a possible collie / golden retriever mix (our assumption). He is very sweet, but very shy. He would do best with a quieter house hold. He would still love to run and play, but a lot of activity may frighten him as he is currently a little skiddish.

THIS WONDERFUL GAL CAME TO US ABOUT 1 WEEK AGO, FOUND ON A COUNTRY ROAD. SO FAR NO ONE HAS COME TO CLAIM HER. SHE HAS BEEN WORMED, TESTED FOR HEARTWORM(NEGATIVE), AND TICK DISEASE(SHOWED A POSITIVE FOR EXPOSURE TO LYME/ANAPLASMA)FOR WHICH SHE IS BEING TREATED.CBC AND BLOOD CHEMISTRY CAME BACK ALL WITHIN NORMAL LIMITS.SHE WILL BE VACCINATED FOR DISTEMPER AND RABIES, AND STILL TO BE DETERMINED IF SHE IS SPAYED. SHE IS TRULY THE SWEETEST LADY, VERY LAID BACK AND QUIET, AND IS EXCEPTIONALLY CLEAN. SHE IS 10+, AND ARTHRITIC,AND NOT THE STEADIEST ON HER FEET, BUT HER ATTITUDE IS AS GOOD AS IT GETS, AND SEEMS AS THOUGH SHE WOULD GET ALONG WITH ALL. A VERY SWEET, GENTLE LADY WHO WOULD JUST LIKE A FAMILY TO BE PART OF, AND A SOFT BED TO LIE NEXT TO YOU. AS THE DAYS GO BY HOPEFULLY WE WILL HAVE SOME MORE INPUT ABOUT THIS VERY SPECIAL GIRL. (Less)

|Rescue Me ID: 15-05-02-00059TANNER (male)|
Meet sweet Tanner, a stunningly handsome senior who found his way to us from KY. This gorgeous, gentle boy found himself in an awful situation. His so-called 'family' in KY had had this boy from when he was 6 weeks old. But Tanner isn't a puppy anymore -- he is a senior boy (somewhere in the 7-10 yr range), and he is now developing cataracts. So, his 'family' abandoned him by dumping him in a high kill shelter in rural KY. Poor Tanner was very confused & so scared... His whole world was shattered... He did not know what was happening. But, luckily, our rescue partners in KY got the word out; and one of Safe At Last's former adopters came forward and offered to foster this boy. By opening her home to Tanner, this wonderful, caring person saved Tanner from being euthanized and has given him a chance for a new life. So, yes, there are good people in this world who DO make a difference, and Tanner is finding that out. He is safe and loved and pampered, and he does not have to worry any more. Although Tanner has cataracts & has some vision impairment, he is not blind. He can see people and objects when they are up close to him. He can walk in the yard and in the house and does not bump into anything; so, he can see. He is also a healthy boy and still quite spry, as he jumped right into the vehicles transporting him to his new life. Tanner is also neutered, heartworm negative and up to date on his shots. He is also potty-trained. He is about 50 lbs and our best assessment is that he is a collie/shepherd mix. Once Tanner settles in a little more, we will investigate further with our vet the extent of his cataract/vision issue, and we will keep you updated. We will also see if it is possible to correct the problem. Tanner gets along great with the other dog in his foster home who is a senior as well. Tanner's foster mom reports that Tanner is following the other dog around and is quite happy in his company. Tanner also ignores cats, which is pleasant news for the kitty in his foster home. Due to his vision impairment, Tanner can be startled a bit easily; therefore, we are seeking a home without young children. We feel Tanner would do best in a quiet, settled home environment where he will feel secure being with his person/people and have his special needs met for the rest of his life. If you feel you have the ability to provide Tanner with a responsible, caring, secure home for life, we would love to hear from you. Please go to www.safeatlast.net to register. Then log back on to the website with your user name and password to complete the online adoption application. We will then contact you by email to set up a phone interview to commence the review process. Our process is very straightforward, but it does involve the phone interview, reference checks and a home assessment. If you have any questions, please email us at email@example.com. Please help show this abandoned senior boy that there are people who DO care and are willing to open their hearts to right an awful wrong. In the process, you will be welcoming into your home a canine family member who will love you for life. Thank you for helping us save shelter pets, one life at a time. (Less)

Collie Dogs can make good pets in New York if they match your IifestyIe. Collies, or Rough Collies, are loyal, devoted, and protective dogs. Most Collies are excellent companions for children. Collies are natural herders and may nip at people's heels when they are puppies. Collies respond well to gentle obedience training. Collies are best suited to loving families with a decent sized yard but can adapt to apartment life. Collies are easy to housebreak.
