Kiley is still looking for her forever home. She was rescued from the euth list when she was at the shelter for a few weeks after coming in with her family as a stray. Poor girl had a hard life outside and without much care. She has blossomed in her foster home and enjoys walks and running around the yard and sleeping! She is a great guard dog and really loving. She is estimated to be 6-8 years old and it would be best if she was not with small children. She doesn't like a lot of commotion and feels safe in her crate if there is a lot going on.

Animal ID: 15-03-18-00206Cinder (female)

Collie Mix    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Low Energy, Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Cinder is short for Cinderella and this girl does have a fairy tale story, BUT it is not completed!! Cinder was pulled from a shelter in N. Fl. with no time to spare.. She was one of 7 dogs whose owner was put in a nursing home, and the family didnt want the dogs. These dogs were chained outside ALL their lives, not mistreated but they were chain dogs. Cinder was 7 when we pulled her and that was two years ago. She was extremely shy when we got her, and her place of comfort was outdoors. She would run away from you and human touch was also feared. Over the last two years, she has learned that a couch is a great thing, petting is not so bad. ... (Read More)She plays with and likes other dogs. Cats are unknown. She uses a dog door, but is housebroken. We are still working on the grooming and brushing part which makes her uncomfortable, but she tolerates it. Had her shaved down not long ago and the groomer didnt have much trouble with her.. she just gives in to it. She does play a little bit with a ball and likes squeaky toys. Cinder has been succesfully treated for heartworms by us, and is utd on shots and hw/flea prevention. She does not mind being amongst other dogs,no food or toy aggression either, but I think she would love a chance to have people all to herself. She does maintain a certain level of independence, and retreating outdoors is her default behaviour. I have found her outside in a storm running around like a nut chasing the thunder, she is not afraid of it for sure. She can be crated for periods of time but can also be left loose in the house. Leash work is still needed, but she would just prefer to be in the back yard. Daily walking has not been embraced as we live in the country. A fence will be a must, and she likes tall bushes to hide behind. Comes when called, very low key low maintenance girl and would prefer older children. Great dog for a senior couple. Will make the best companion, with years still to give plenty of love. She sleeps at the foot of my bed every night. Cinder is at the farm in Bradenton. She is such a sweet girl, surely there is someone out there with a love for a low maintenance senior! (Less)
