Rescue Me ID: 16-06-26-00185Tilly (male)

Collie Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Tilly, Collie/Red Heeler, 2 1/2 yrs, 40-45 lbs, working on housebreaking, crate trained. Tilly tends to be shy and leery around new people and takes a bit to warm up to them, but she usually does. She is very smart and will keep you on a routine. She needs to have a job and stay busy even if it's mentally busy. Very trainable especially with treats. She can sit, lay down, shake and heal, but can't figure out the rolling over. She can cruise over 4 foot fence easy. Tilly responds well to females. She is good with other dogs and cats. Awesome dog. She is an owner surrender. Her owner lives in the country and unfortunately Tilly and ... (Read More)the neighbors dogs got into trouble chasing the neighbors sheep. Since then she has to be confined to the house, in a kennel, and they want her to have a better life than that. We are looking for a home where there is another young dog for her play with or someone that works from home that can give her attention. Call Cindy 970-353-1385 (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-05-15-00180Marley (male)

Collie Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Needs Vaccinations

We all know how we get that awww feeling when we see an adorable young puppy. Marley is the kind of baby who snuggles in, loves you up and then puts his head on your shoulder. He's so sweet (while being initially just a bit shy) and truly kind with every possibility open to him. That's the case unless a puppy like Marley is in a high-kill shelter that quickly runs out of space or on the streets hiding in the shadows. We're so grateful for the efforts of our great rescuer in Tijuana, Mexico for saving Marley from abuse and certain euthanasia. She could see that his temperament was so sweet and his need so great that she couldn't turn her ... (Read More)back on this very special pup. Marley was immediately brought to be vetted, given the appropriate vaccinations, granted a health certificate and brought to a dog-loving foster to begin his education as a cherished house dog. We've requested that Marley to be neutered but Tijuana vets felt he was too young for the procedure. Farfel's is happy to cover costs for Marley's neuter if our Denver vet is used. When we think of rescue, our thoughts don't usually go onto the tough streets of Tijuana. But these forgotten dogs deserve our help every bit as much as their US counterparts. They all have been used for opportunistic purposes...to either breed and discard or to sell as a puppy to a Mexican mill or rich tourists. Virtually all of them have lived on the streets and survived by learning to be social. They love people because compassionate tourists were their means of survival. They can sit in any language and fit quietly into any scene to earn a treat or discarded meal. This was the life waiting for Marley...just 3 months old and approximately 4 lbs (anticipated to be 10 - 12 lbs when full-grown). This is such a perfect size to be able to accompany his family just about anywhere and then fit perfectly onto a loving lap. Juanito will always fit right in due to his great temperament. He is already starting to understand that sweet, cuddly and cooperative behavior makes great things happen in life. Juanito was one of the extremely lucky young puppies to show great promise in his socialization skills at a very early age. The US rescuers couldn't help but fall in love with Juanito! We all had a clear picture of this very sweet and fun-loving pup in a forever Colorado home with a family that cherishes him for life. As Juanito becomes comfortable in his home, he will become a fuzzy ball of good-will that loves to please - the happier his family is with his behavior, the more he will shine with his accomplishments. We would like to see Juanito in a home that includes him in family time and activities (and of course some lap or couch-time would be perfect!)... and takes that extra step to participate in positive reinforcement obedience classes. These classes take a very smart guy like Juanito and teaches them the skills to fit into a great family member that can behave appropriately in any situation. Juanito would be a wonderful companion for active retirees who have the time and desire to be best friends with a truly adorable young pup. He would enjoy another gentle dog to play with...he's so sweet and gentle as he puts his positive energy into enjoying the day with a fun friend. Juanito was identified as a Maltese/Terrier mix by his Tijuana rescuer. This is difficult to determine with certainty, but we can see both adorable and engaging breeds in this very sweet dog. Juanito appears to be a non- shedding or very lightly shedding pup with the cottony-soft hair that speaks of his breed mix. Marley is arriving on transport in Boulder in mid-May. Applications are currently being accepted for our very sweet puppy with the dark, expressive eyes.
